Villa Puccini Governo All' Uso Toscano, 2024

Gingersnap, black cherry, blueberry, fresh slate. Palate is balanced with a minerally yet juicy core, layered on Tuscan terroir with a balsamic element.  Governo alla Toscana is a traditional way of vinifying where Sangiovese grapes (and Merlot with this particular wine) are harvested at maturity, then undergo fermentation. Additionally, a smaller parcel of these grapes are kept on the vine longer in order to dry and ripen.  This is then added to the already fermented wine, causing a second fermentation. Essentially this give us a smoother and more structured wine from the second fermentation but also richer from the dried berries.
